Texas is facing a public safety worker shortage. The demand for public safety professionals in Texas, including roles such as Police Officers, Firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics is projected to grow steadily over the next decade. Texas expects a general employment growth of around 18% in public safety and related fields, which is higher than the national average growth rate. In total, thousands of new openings in Texas will be driven by retirements, career transitions, and the need for additional staff to meet population growth and urban expansion. These roles require ongoing training and skill updates to effectively respond to emergencies, whether in firefighting, law enforcement, or emergency medical services. This high demand highlights the promising job prospects for those entering public safety. Additionally, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimating competitive annual mean wage for public safety workers in Texas at $53,180, these careers offer both financial stability and the chance to make a meaningful impact in communities across the State.
