Students enrolled in Weatherford College’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program have the opportunity to apply for concurrent enrollment in the RN-to-BSN Program. This option allows eligible ADN students to begin taking BSN courses while completing their pre-licensure nursing coursework.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for concurrent enrollment the applicant must:
- Successfully complete the second semester of the ADN Program
- Maintain a grade of “B” or better in all ADN nursing courses
- Have approval and notification of approval status to RN-BSN from ADN Program Director (The ADN Program Director will approve or disapprove of ALL ADN students applying)
- Have completed 14 of the 17 required general education courses for the BSN degree
- Have no documented behavior, counseling, academic progression, or disciplinary concerns within the ADN Program
- Have not repeated any ADN nursing coursework due to course failure
Course Enrollment Guidelines
Concurrently enrolled students may take one BSN course at a time while actively enrolled in pre-licensure ADN coursework.
During breaks in ADN coursework (e.g., summer term), students may enroll in up to three BSN courses, provided they continue to meet all eligibility requirements.
If a student earns a “C” in a pre-licensure nursing course, they may still be permitted to take BSN courses during a break term with ADN Program Director approval, provided general education requirements are met. However, they may not continue BSN coursework alongside ADN coursework once the break ends.
Academic Performance Requirements
If a concurrently enrolled student earns below a “B” in any ADN nursing course, they must immediately notify the RN-BSN Program Director at bsn@wc.eduand will not be permitted to enroll in additional BSN courses until successful completion of the affected ADN coursework.
If a concurrently enrolled student withdraws from or fails an ADN nursing course, they may complete the BSN course currently in progress, but will not be eligible to enroll in additional BSN courses until after successful completion of the ADN Program.
Additionally, students may NOT self-enroll in additional BSN courses in Coyote Connect; registration approval is required.
Degree Completion
Students participating in concurrent enrollment will not be awarded the BSN degree until they successfully complete the ADN Program, and pass the NCLEX-RN examination.
