It is required by the State of Texas to take the PAA prior to taking your TSIA2 test. Why?

  • Learn what’s on the TSI Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) and why doing well matters.
  • Find out if you are exempt from taking the TSI Assessment 2.0.
  • Try your hand (and brain!) on some sample items.
  • Get the details about testing and support for your desired institution.
  • Receive your certificate for completing this mandatory activity.

When completing the PAA demographic information, you only need to fill out the required information. When it asks for your student ID, you can leave this blank. The first question you will be asked when you take the TSIA2 will be if you completed the PAA. Please bring proof of your PAA to the testing center when you go in to take the test. This does not have to be a hard copy but can be the email on your phone.

Complete the PAA.

If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSIA2 assessment to determine your readiness for college-level work, unless you prove exemption. There are two major components of the assessment which are 1) to diagnose students’ basic skill in reading/writing and mathematics and 2) to place student in the level of instruction to strengthen academic skills.

Before coming in to test, you are required to do a Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) which will give you sample questions and information regarding resources at the college. Click here to complete the PAA. When you come in to test, we will need to see the email confirming this was done. The cost of the TSIA2 is $25.
