Graduation

Congratulations on nearing completion of your program at Weatherford College! To ensure a seamless graduation experience, here you will find information on how to apply for graduation, important graduation deadlines, commencement and regalia information, and other frequently asked questions. Weatherford College offers students three opportunities each year to graduate from their degree/certificate programs.

Distinction between Graduating and Participating in Commencement Events

Commencement is the congratulatory ceremony hosted by college officials in which students are publically and formally recognized. Graduation is the process of being awarded a degree or certificate after completion of credit hours and other program requirements.

To officially graduate from Weatherford College, a student must apply for graduation by the posted deadline. After receipt of final grades, the student's degree audit or degree plan must show the student satisfied all college and departmental requirements for the specific degree or certificate program. A degree becomes official when it is posted to a student's transcript -- typically two to three weeks after the completion of their final term - not by their participation in commencement exercises.

Graduation Deadlines

Fall graduation (December) October 25
Spring graduation (May) March 25
Summer graduation (August) July 15

Commencement

Weatherford College conducts one commencement ceremony each year. Commencement is held following the spring ceremony in May.  All May graduates, students who completed in December prior, and upcoming August completers, may participate in the May ceremony.

Regalia

  • Students who wish to participate in the spring ceremony in May must purchase regalia to include the required cap, gown, and diploma cover, through the Weatherford College Bookstore.
  • Phi Theta Kappa members may purchase the stole, honor cord, and tassel online from the Phi Theta Kappa website prior to April 1. These are the only approved items that may be worn at commencement and are not available at the Weatherford College Bookstore. Please direct questions to Chapter Advisors Sharon Johnson at ptk@wc.edu.

Diplomas

Actual diplomas are not awarded at commencement ceremonies and participation in the ceremonies is not a guarantee of degree completion. Diplomas are available to be picked up in person with a photo ID from the Student Services Office approximately 2 weeks following graduation. All diplomas not picked up in person will be mailed. Please review and update your mailing address.
