Overview
Weatherford College offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs in Radiography at both the Weatherford Campus and the Wise County Campus. Each program provides comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and clinical education designed to prepare graduates for entry-level practice as radiologic technologists and eligibility to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination. Although both programs lead to the same degree and prepare students for the same professional credential, they operate as separate programs with distinct admissions processes, faculty, clinical education assignments, student cohorts, and accreditation status and requirements.
What is Radiologic Technology?
- The segment of the healthcare team that produces diagnostic medical images for the treatment and care of patients.
- Radiographic imaging occurs in different venues including hospitals, out-patient clinics, and physician offices.
- Radiography is performed on all age groups and suffering from a broad spectrum of diseases.
Why Radiologic Technology?
- It is a growing field with the opportunity to work in multiple areas in the radiology department including surgery, ER, fluoroscopic and diagnostic exams.
- Opportunities to cross train and receive additional certifications in other modalities such as: CT, Mammography, Cath lab, and Interventional radiology.
- The demand for radiologic technologists is expected to increase faster than average.
Program Basics
Didactic lecture, laboratory classes, and clinical rotations for field experience throughout the 20 month curriculum.
- 64 semester credit hours and is designed to prepare the graduate for employment as a diagnostic radiologic technologist.
- Students are assigned a preceptor in the practicum courses and are responsible to complete a specific number of competencies.
- At the conclusion of the program, the students will be awarded an AAS degree in Radiologic Technology and be eligible to sit for the ARRT national registry exam.

Transfer Options
A student, enrolled in a Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program, may transfer to another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program under the following circumstances:
- The student is in good standing
- The student has withdrawn from a program while in good standing
- The student is not on probation for a non-academic issue.
- The student obtains a letter of recommendation from the prior Health and Human Sciences program director.
- The student must meet the requirements of the program to which they are transferring and receives acceptance from the respective program director.
A student may not transfer into another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program if:
- The applicant has ever been dismissed from another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program.
- The applicant is currently on probation, for a disciplinary issue, in another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program.
- The applicant has received a failing grade in another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program for a behavioral issue.
Any student who requests to transfer into another Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences program must meet all the specific admissions requirements for that program. Prior admission into a Weatherford College Health and Human Sciences Program does not guarantee admission into another program.
