Yes, you must have a EMT certification in the State of Texas to be in the Paramedic Program. 

Programs tentatively start in the Spring utilizing the 48/96 shift schedule on "A-Shift" and in the Summer utilizing the 24/48 shift schedule on "C-Shift". 

Below is an example of a 48/96 schedule. Any "A" shifts that land on Saturday or Sunday are not in person classroom days. Schedule shift date starts change based on the month.

The COVID-19 vaccine is highly recommended by the clinical sites affiliated with Weatherford College. Clinical sites retain the authority to enforce COVID-19 vaccination mandates, which can potentially affect student participation in clinical rotations and graduation requirements. Exemptions and accommodations for the COVID-19 vaccine requirement will not be available if clinical site mandates are implemented.
Yes, you must have TSI placement scores on file. There is no set score requirement to be accepted into the Paramedic Program. 
No, Weatherford College does not allow for advanced placement or transfer credits from a previous Paramedic program.

Clinicals are held throughout each semester outside of class time and are selected during a designated time by the student. They are 12 hour rotations. Each semester has its own set number of shifts that must be met. (The following are subject to change)

  • 1st Semester: 8 Hospital Shifts, 3 Ambulance Shifts, and 1 Clinical Orientation
  • 2nd Semester: 3 ICU Shifts, 3 ER Shifts, 1 OR Shift, & 1 Behavioral Class
  • 3rd Semester: 1 OB Shift & 3 Pediatric Shifts
  • Capstone: 20 Ambulance Shifts (Minimum) & 20 Team Leads

In addition to completion of the required SME chart provided by our accreditation board of required skills and patient contacts. 

Yes, some of our locations only allow for evening rotations. 

Due to the limit number of spots in each program our department utilizes a selection criteria process to select the top candidates.
Paramedic is the highest level of licensure in the Emergency Medical Services Profession. Many departments today employ only paramedics creating a demand that all-but guarantees a job to all graduates.
