Admission Requirements
Note: Applications are accepted February 1 through May 31 on College business days.
Successful MLT Application submission includes:
- Submit a Weatherford College application.
- Submit a Health and Human Sciences Program (HHS Program) for the MLT program.
- Submit Hepatitis B vaccination records or a positive titer.
Phlebotomy Requirement
To qualify for the MLT Program, applicants must provide proof of one of the following:
- A national phlebotomy certification,
- Successful completion of the Weatherford College Phlebotomy Program, or
- An employer verification letter confirming at least one year of continuous employment as a phlebotomist.
Applicants who do not meet one of these criteria will automatically be enrolled in
the Weatherford College Phlebotomy Program during their first semester of the MLT
program.
English Proficiency Requirements
Before being accepted into the MLT program, an applicant whose native* language is not English must submit the required score on the TOEFL iBT with the application.
*A native language is a language that is acquired naturally during childhood and is spoken at home, as opposed to a language that is learned later in life.
Selection Process
1. Points Awarded for Completed General Coursework:
- A=4pts
- B=3pts
- C=2pts
2. Previous Educational Degree:
- Associate’s = 4pts
- Bachelor’s and Up = 6pts
3. Bonus Points (Documentation will required):
- Patient Healthcare Certification (CNA, CMA, EMT) = 3pts
- Previous Military Healthcare Training = 3pts
- Previous/Current Military Service = 1pt
- Resident of Parker, Wise, Jack, Hood, or Palo Pinto = 1pt
Interview Process
The 30 students with the highest cumulative points based on application will be invited for an interview where additional points are awarded. Then, students will be re-ranked based on new point totals. The top 24 students will be accepted into the program for a fall cohort. The next 6 students will be selected alternates.
