Overview

After completion of specific general education courses, the nursing curriculum consists of two years of coursework. With successful completion of all course and program requirements for the associate of applied science in nursing, you will earn an A.A.S. degree and be eligible for the National Council of Licensing Examination for the Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). Upon passing the NCLEX-RN, you will be qualified to apply for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.

LVN Transition students are accepted annually to each campus:

  • The Weatherford campus cohort begins students annually in a 10-week summer semester; the students complete the summer/fall/spring semesters and graduate in May the following year.
  • The Wise County campus cohort begins students annually in January; the students complete the spring/12-week summer/fall semesters and graduate in December.

Requirements

The course of study is comprised of 48 semester credit hours and upon completion of the curriculum; students will be awarded a total of 12 credits for previous LVN courses. Work experience as an LVN and proof of licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas is required.

Submit the Weatherford College application via the Apply Texas website and official transcripts to the Office of Student Services. Student must meet TSI requirement.
