In order to apply to the Cardiovascular Sonography Program at Weatherford College, you must complete the following:
*Each prerequisite course must be passed with a ‘C’ or better. It is recommended that prerequisite courses be completed with a ‘B’ or higher. The student is only allowed 2 attempts in the required pre-req courses for the Cardiovascular Sonography Degree Program.
- MATH 1314 – College Algebra or higher
- ENGL 1301 – English Composition I
- BIOL 2401 – Anatomy and Physiology I *(must have been taken within 5 years at time of admission)
- BIOL 2402 – Anatomy and Physiology II *(must have been taken within 5 years at time of admission)
- PHYS X4XX – College Level Physics Course
- Elective – Creative Arts OR Language/Philosophy, Culture
- PSYC 2301 – Introduction to Psychology
+2 Bonus Points if the student successfully completes Medical Terminology at the college level with a B or higher within the last 5 years.

Complete HESI-A2 Entrance Exam. You must have a minimum score of 75% on both the Reading Comprehension and Math sections in order to apply.
The HESI-A2 Entrance Exam is given in the Testing Center at Weatherford College, located in the Jack Knight Building. The cost of the exam can be verified by calling the Testing Center at 817-598-6383 and is paid in the Weatherford College Business Office. To schedule the HESI-A2 Entrance Exam, please use Register Blast.
You will need to present the receipt from the business office to the personnel in the Testing Center. The exam takes approximately four hours and is computerized. You are allowed to take the test once every 60 days. Once you have completed the test, please print two copies of the results in order to keep a copy for your records. The HESI-A2 Entrance Exam scores are good for two years.

All applicants are required to submit evidence of the TSI to Student Services by emailing admissions@wc.edu.
Begin the Hepatitis B series and submit proof of the first shot or a positive titer with application. This is a 4 - 6 month process and must be completed prior to the fall semester. Failure to meet application requirements will result in denial of application. We do not accept the Fast Track series.
*Only completed applications along with official transcripts, test scores, and proof of Hepatitis B shot will be accepted.
*Consideration for credit for human medical work experience requires submission of a letter from your employer stating your role in patient care that is signed and that provides contact information. Please submit this with your application. The program will verify employment on a case-to-case basis. Please, include a training certificate if available.
Failure to meet application requirements will result in denial of application.

4. Points for prior medical work experience
- 2 points per year of *full-time work experience that involves **direct patient care. Maximum of 6 points allowed.
- Consideration for credit for human medical work experience requires submission of
a letter from your employer stating:
- Dates you were employed
- Specific duties you performed in your role (involving patient care)
- Signature of employer with their business contact information
This letter MUST be submitted with your application. The program will verify employment on a case-to-case basis.
*Full-time is considered at least 32 hours per week.
**Direct patient care requires providing care to persons needing health services, not supporting roles that provide patient care.
- Roles that would earn medical work experience points: phlebotomist, transporter at hospital, medial assistant, certified nurse’s assistant, etc.
- Roles that would not earn medical work experience points:working the front desk in an ER or physician’s office, cleaning medical instruments, working in the billing department of a medical facility, etc.
5. HESI A2 Assessment test scores
As of December 2025, the Cardiovascular Sonography Program will require a score of at least 75% on both the reading comprehension and math sections of the HESI-A2 Entrance Exam. The program will award points based on the average scores from the Reading, math, A&P, Grammar and Vocabulary sections. This exam can be taken more than once. Points are awarded based on the following scale:
100-90 | 4 points |
89-80 | 3 points |
79-70 | 2 points |
<74 | 0 points |
6. Personal Interview
The top 35-40* students who have the highest cumulative amount of points (considering pre-req courses + degree + medical work experience + average of HESI A2 scores) will be invited to interview with the program. Interviews will be scored.

7. Final Ranking process
The 16* students who have the highest cumulative amount of points (considering the items below) will be accepted into the upcoming Fall cohort:
