Step-by-Step Application Instructions
Self-Sponsored Cadet
Confirm you can meet the physical and mental requirements of the program.
1. Online College Application:
- Go to WC.edu's How to Apply page
- Select either:
- New Student (Never attended Weatherford College)
- Returning Student (If you haven’t attended in the last 2 years)
- Transfer Student (If you have attended any college elsewhere)
- Select either:
- Follow the steps on the next page to set up your coyote recruit account
- Academic Level: Undergraduate
- Academic Program: Law Enforcement Academy - Basic Peace Officer Certificate
- Entry Term: Based on term applying for
2. Submit Official Transcripts: (High School and Any College) This can be done online through Parchment.com to the College AND bring hard copies to the coordinator.
3. Meningitis Vaccine (if under 21): Provide proof of a meningitis vaccine within the last 5 years to admissions.
4. Complete the TSI Exam (unless exempt as a college graduate or veteran): If Military, please contact Tammy Peters at 817-598-6243.

- Copy to be made in our office
- Birth Certificate
- NO COPIES

- Original Certificate of Nationalization papers (if applicable)

- Driver’s License
- Color copy of the front and back, to be made in our office
- Proof of auto liability insurance
- Must be current at time of the academy start date
- DD214 (if applicable)
- Must possess an honorable discharge
- Claims Release
- Must be signed by a witness
- Proof of current Flu Shot
- Not required, but highly recommended.
- Official hardcopy of transcripts
- Provide official hardcopy transcripts sealed regardless of submission by electronic with your application. Open transcripts will not be accepted as official.

- READ ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING THE PHS.
- MUST be TYPED an NOT handwritten.
- Paperwork listed in the PHS MUST be submitted with your PHS to the Public Safety Professions

If the text does not fit in one of the boxes, press the space bar a few times after text to make it fit. - Download PHS and for any item that you provide information, make sure you put something for every
box in that item.
- If you do not know the information or cannot obtain the information, enter "unknown". For example, of you have a sibling who you are no longer in contact with and do not know their address, put "unknown" in the blank.
- If it is something that you/they do not have, put "NA".
- If you have a parent that is retired, but "retired" in the work address box, and then "NA" in the corresponding city, state, and zip code boxes.
- If there is an "NA" check box in the upper left-hand corner of an item, and you check that box, you do not need to complete any other boxes for that item.
- Keep in mind this is a TCOLE document and can be used as an instrument for comparison at any agency you apply to in the future.
- After you complete the PHS remember to make a copy for your records.

Once application is approved by the coordinator, cadet will receive information and MUST see assigned doctor(s) given in email.
- L2 form (Licensee Medical Condition Declaration)
- L3 form (Licensee Psychological and Emotional Health Declaration)
Submit the following within 90 days of academy start date
NOTE: Both the background check and driving records are valid for 90 days. Please order your them within 90 days of the academy orientation date.
- F.A.S.T. background check
- Schedule appointment to be electronically fingerprinted by MorphoTrust USA online through IdentoGo.
- Service Code: 11G4J8
- ORI TCOLE Academy #: LE-511247
- Provide all required pre-enrollment data and select a convenient date and time for your appointment.
- At appointment, bring photo identification and fee.
- If using a form of identification other than a valid (unexpired) TX Drivers license, refer to the Department of Public Safety's acceptable document types.
- MorphoTrust accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, business checks, money orders, and coupon codes (employer accounts) at the time of services. Personal checks and cash are NOT accepted.
- Your finger prints will be submitted electronically to DPS and the FBI. You will not receive a printed finger print card.
- You will receive an IdentoGo receipt. DO NOT throw away the receipt.
- To check status on your submission go to the IdentoGo web page and click "Check Status"
- Finger prints provided for this application shall be sued to check criminal history records of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in accordance with applicable statues.
- Schedule appointment to be electronically fingerprinted by MorphoTrust USA online through IdentoGo.
- Driving History Statement
- Go to the DPS Driver's License Online Services web page.
- Log into the system using your driver's license number, social security number, date of birth, and the 11-16 DPS audit number, located next to your driver's license photo.
- You will need to obtain a TYPE 3 DRIVING RECORD, which includes all accidents on your driving record. It does not need to be certified, as with TYPE 3A.
- Input your name, address, and hit "Review requested records and purchase order."
- Enter your payment information and billing address, and hit "Pay this amount."
- Follow any other on-screen directions until you have completed the request.
- Print the report and submit to the academy. Keep a copy for your own records.
- Go to the DPS Driver's License Online Services web page.
All communication occurs through the WC email assigned to the student.
- Go to wc.edu's Current Student page.
- Click Student Email.
Set up your student email on your phone, tablet, or computer. If you encounter issues, contact Technology Services at 817-598-6364.
After Steps 1 - 4, prospective cadets will need to regularly monitor their Weatherford College email for additional information. Once application is approved by the coordinator, cadet will receive information and MUST see assigned doctor(s) given in email.
