Requirements

  • Students entering into the Class A barber program must have a current cosmetology license
  • Or be enrolled in the WC cosmetology program and want to obtain both cosmetology and barber licenses.

A school may enroll a student simultaneously in both the cosmetology operator course and the Class A Barber course if the student seeks to obtain both license types. The student must complete all the requirements under subsections (a)(1) through (a)(3) to obtain both license types. (TDLR CHAPTER 83 BARBERS AND COSMETOLOGISTS RULE 83.202)

Career Options

Upon completions students will have a dual licensing in cosmetology and barbering with the opportunity to preform services including cuts, color, shaves using straight razor and more.

BARBERING HAS BECOME ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING FIELDS IN THE INDUSTRY. BOTH MEN AND WOMEN HAVE JOINED FORCES TO MAKE BARBERING AN EXCITING CAREER FOR ALL. BLS EXPECTS THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY TO GROW 8% BETWEEN 2018-2028.
