Alternative financial assistance is available for most Workforce Education (CEU/non-credit) programs, although FAFSA and Pell funding options are currently limited for many courses. To find out if your program of interest qualifies, please contact the Workforce Education office on your preferred campus.
Workforce Education Grant (WEG)
A portion of the Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) funds are made available by Weatherford College for Workforce Education programs each school year. Funds are awarded throughout the academic year until all funds are depleted, with a maximum award of $1,800 per student per academic year. Awards are based on the applicant’s documented financial need. Grants apply to tuition only and are not eligible for reimbursement. Funding will not be awarded until the student has fully registered for their class, and all awards are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who’s Eligible?

- Students must be a U.S. citizen and be able to provide documents required on the application.
- Students who are not currently receiving FAFSA support for academic (credit) coursework.

- Complete the fillable application in full
- Print the document
- Sign the application on all needed areas
- Collect and provide official 2024 IRS Tax documents
- IRS Issued Tax Transcript or
- Signed 1040 Tax Return
- Submit the application and documents to the Workforce Education Office at your preferred

- If a student does not successfully complete the Workforce Education program in which funding was awarded, the student will be placed on probation, therefore putting future funding in jeopardy.

Weatherford College Foundation Scholarship for Workforce Education
Through the generosity of community leaders and donors, this scholarship supports students based on their career goals, potential life impact, and financial need. Funds are awarded throughout the academic year until all funds are depleted. Scholarships apply to tuition only and are not eligible for reimbursement. Funding will not be awarded until the student has fully registered for their class.
Who’s Eligible?
- Students with a completed Workforce Education Grant (WEG) application on file for the current academic year
- Awards are determined based on submitted documentation and committee review
How do I Apply?
- Once a complete WEG application is submitted, the Workforce Education Scholarship
digital application will be emailed to the student
- After submitting the scholarship application, students will have the option to email themselves a copy of their responses—this is strongly recommended for your records
- Please note: Scholarship funds are limited and available only until they are exhausted

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program
Some programs are certified through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and are eligible for funding. To determine if you qualify and if your program is eligible, please contact an area Workforce Solutions Center in your area. Here are the local boards:

Veterans
Persons who have served in the U.S. Military may qualify for assistance in some programs. Contact the Veterans Office at 817-598-6243.
Senior Citizens
Persons the age of 65 or older may qualify for a discounted price for certain classes when space is available.
- Classes must reach minimum enrollment with fully funded students to qualify for the Senior Citizen Discount
- The discounted price does not apply to all classes
- Discounts are NOT available to repeat a class
- A driver’s license must be provided for registration
