Overview

Art at WC prepares students to express themselves through the development of visual skills, critical thinking and an understanding of cultural contexts. An encouraging atmosphere fosters both their freedom and discipline to study a variety of historical styles and find their own personal voice.

The pedagogical approach in the Visual Arts program at Weatherford College centers around the idea that artists are thinkers and cultural producers. Students in the Visual Arts Program develop a strong understanding of the mechanics in various media and apply their technical skills to support conceptual constructs. Weatherford College's proximity to the Cultural District in Fort worth gives students access to a wide variety of Art Galleries and Nationally recognized Art Museums. The Visual Arts program promotes inquiry and experimentation, which ultimately prepares students to develop their visual vocabulary to communicate as artists in a global society.
