Audio Engineering

Cip Code: 10.0203

Overview

Both the certificate and the AAS in Audio Engineering teach the tools and workflows of a real-world recording studio, covering sound fundamentals, tracking, editing, and mixing audio. Students will learn concepts in mic characteristics, create the strategic studio set-up for each recording session challenge, signal routing, mixing console operation and techniques, and be able to demonstrate basic to advanced studio procedures. Courses in acoustics, songwriting, and MIDI prepare students to understand sound characteristics and require them to present their own music for recording. This teaches students practical skills on both sides of the recording process, from an artist's perspective and an engineer's perspective.
