Overview

Weatherford College offers both an associate of applied science degree in nursing and a Licensed Vocational Nurse to Registered Nurse Program.

After completion of specific general education courses, the nursing curriculum consists of two years of coursework. With successful completion of all course and program requirements for the associate of applied science in nursing, you will earn an A.A.S. degree and be eligible for the National Council of Licensing Examination for the Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). Upon passing the NCLEX-RN, you will be qualified to apply for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this Web site is to promote awareness of the Weatherford College nursing programs. You will be provided links to forms and comprehensive information required for applying to the various nursing programs, and the information needed once you are accepted into the program.

Accreditation

The Weatherford College Associate Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). The BON can be reached at the George W. Bush State Office Building at 1801 Congress Ave., Suite 10-200, Austin TX 78701, phone 512-305-7400.

The Associate Degree Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). ACEN may be reached at 3343 Peachtree RD NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, phone 404-975-5000.

The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum plans are approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).

Career Options

After graduation and successfully completing the NCLEX exam, graduates will be eligible to practice as a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare sectors. Graduates will also be eligible to enroll in post-licensure degree programs such as Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Masters of Science in Nursing, and Advanced Practice in Nursing which will further expand their scope of practice.
