Weatherford College honored 45 of the finest teachers from across the region at the annual Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers celebration on Thursday, Feb. 29, in the Emerging Technologies and Workforce Building.  

Celebrating its 28th year, the Harvey Academy honors exemplary teachers in memory of Professor Emeritus Jack Harvey, who taught at WC for 23 years and was considered among his peers as a "master teacher."   

This year's keynote speaker was Naveen Cunha, a robotics instructor who was recently selected as the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year. Cunha has an impressive background in math, science and engineering education including time in Washington, D.C. as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow for NASA. He received many awards for teaching, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. 

Cunha's passion for providing students with hands-on learning experiences has led to success in competitions like the Technology Student Association and Seaperch. Through his leadership at Odyssey Academy, he has created an award-winning STEM program in Bryan ISD.
