WC to host home Lone Star Region Rodeo Oct. 9-11

August 14, 2025

A promotional graphic for the Weatherford College Lone Star Region Rodeo, featuring a black and white photo of a cowboy on horseback roping an animal. The text "Weatherford College Lone Star Region Rodeo" is at the top, and "October 9-11" is prominently displayed. Below that, it states "Friday & Saturday Start Time @ 6:30 P.M." and "Parker Co. Sheriff's Posse Arena." The graphic also includes the logos for Weatherford College, the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, and Cowboy Channel Plus.

With the reorganization of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, Weatherford College will now host a home rodeo on an annual basis. The inaugural WC Lone Star Region Rodeo will take place Oct. 9-11 at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse grounds, and the team is inviting the community and local businesses to get involved by becoming sponsors.

This new opportunity for a home rodeo is a result of the NIRA splitting the large Southwest Region into two smaller, more manageable regions. WC joins Angelo State University, Cisco College, Ranger College, Sul Ross State University, Tarleton State University and Vernon College in the newly-formed Lone Star Region of the NIRA.

The rodeo will feature more than 500 contestant runs. The schedule includes:

  • Slack Performances – Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m. | Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
  • Rodeo Performances – Friday and Saturday nights at 6:30 p.m.

Concerts are scheduled to follow each of the rodeo performances. Sonny Burgess performs Friday night and the Rowdy Decker Band on Saturday.

Sponsorships offer various benefits, including VIP passes, advertisements in the WC media guide as well as logo placement on team apparel and banners. Sponsorship levels include:

  • Platinum Sponsor – $5,000 per year with a three-year commitment
  • Gold Sponsor – $1,500
  • Silver Sponsor – $1,000
  • Bronze Sponsor – $500
  • Team Supporter – $300

Artwork for sponsorships is due Thursday, Sept. 3, and can be emailed to hkibbe@wc.edu. More information and the sponsorship form can be found here.

“We are also excited to live stream all slacks and performances live on the Cowboy Channel Plus App,” said Hadley Kibbe, assistant rodeo coach. “We believe it gives our sponsors a huge amount of additional exposure outside of our arena. We appreciate your support of our rodeo program.”

Tickets for the rodeo can be purchased online here. Online prices are $15 for adults, $10 for kids 12-18, and free for kids 11 and under. Two-day passes are available for $25 for adults and $15 for ages 12-18. Prices increase by $5 if purchased at the gate. WC students and employees are free with a college ID.
