WC Summer Stage presents “High School Musical Jr.”

A cast of middle and high school performers will take the Alkek stage later this month
in Disney’s “High School Musical Jr.,” wrapping up Weatherford College’s Summer Stage
Musical Theatre Camp.
Performances are scheduled for May 29 at 7 p.m., May 30 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and May 31 at 3 p.m. The production follows an intensive weeklong camp that brings together student performers from across the region for training in acting, music and choreography.
Based on the Disney Channel film, “High School Musical Jr.” follows students at East High as basketball star Troy Bolton and academically focused Gabriella Montez challenge social expectations by auditioning for the school musical. The show features well-known songs including “Start of Something New,” “Get’cha Head in the Game” and “We’re All in This Together,” performed by a large ensemble of student actors and dancers.
The production is directed by Elizabeth Baker and Kendrick Booth, with music direction by Haley Twaddell and choreography by Sofi Warren, supported by a full student-focused production team.
The cast includes local student performers in principal roles, including Blake Hood as Troy Bolton, Madelyn Woodring as Gabriella Montez, Shayla Nuttall as Sharpay Evans and Clark Nuttall as Ryan Evans, alongside ensemble groups representing East High’s jocks, brainiacs, thespians and cheerleaders.
Tickets are available online in advance, with remaining seats, if available, sold at the door.
