WC Summer Stage opens auditions
Weatherford College invites students, community members and theatre enthusiasts to audition for the 2026 Weatherford College Summer Stage season, featuring four productions spanning Shakespeare, a children’s show, a teen musical camp and a full-scale summer musical.
Unlike WC’s academic-year productions, which are reserved for enrolled students, the Summer Stage opens its doors to the broader community. Audition and participation details vary by production and are outlined below.
Teen Musical Camp: “High School Musical Jr.”
Middle and high school students are invited to audition for this summer’s teen musical camp production of “High School Musical Jr.” Elementary age students can audition for a spot in the chorus. Actors must be age 6 or older.
Video auditions are due April 20, with in-person callbacks scheduled for May 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
Cast members will participate in Saturday pickup rehearsals May 9, 16, 23 and 24, from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by an intensive week of camps May 25-29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Performances are May 29 at 7 p.m., May 30 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and May 31 at 3 p.m. There is a participation fee to cover licensing and costume costs. More details including how to upload an audition video are available at: High School, Middle School, Elementary School.
Shakespeare: “The Taming of the Shrew”
Auditions for “The Taming of the Shrew” are on April 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alkek. Actors must be age 13 or older.
Rehearsals begin May 4 and run each week Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 10 p.m., with Saturday rehearsals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Performances are June 11-13 at 7 p.m. and June 14 at 2 p.m.
Children’s Show: “Peter Pan”
WC Summer Stage will present “Peter Pan,” written by Heath Thompson, as this season's children's show. Actors must be age 13 or older.
Designed to introduce young audiences to live theatre and proper audience etiquette, this short production runs approximately 30-45 minutes and is geared toward children as audience members, not the performers.
Auditions are on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alkek. Rehearsal dates are to be determined.
Performances are on July 11 and 18 at 11 a.m. and on July 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.
Summer Musical: "Into the Woods”
Auditions for the summer musical, “Into the Woods,” are on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Alkek, with callbacks on May 3 from 5 to 10 p.m. This production is open to performers ages 6 and older.
Rehearsals begin June 8, with a more consistent schedule beginning June 15. Regular rehearsals run Monday through Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Performances are July 24, 25, 31 and Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., and July 26 and Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.
