WC student art exhibition opens with May 7 reception

Weatherford College will showcase student artwork during its Spring Student Art Exhibition, with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, in Texas Hall of the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
The exhibition features work created by students enrolled in Drawing I and II, Design I and II, Painting I and II and Digital Media courses. The show highlights students’ creativity, technical development and exploration across a variety of media and artistic approaches.
Art on display will range from foundational design and observational drawing to painting and digital compositions. Many of the works will be available for purchase, giving visitors the opportunity to support student artists directly.
“The student art show is an important opportunity for our students to share their work with the community,” said Rebecca James, art instructor and chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Department. “It reflects the growth and experimentation that happens in our studios throughout the semester.”
Refreshments will be served during the reception.
