WC Jazz Orchestra presents, “A Night of Song”
October 8, 2024
Come experience the vocal stylings of the Weatherford College Jazz Orchestra in “A
Night of Song” on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. The concert starts
at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
The concert will include a collection of American songbook classics set through a
modern-day filter. WCJO Director Fredrick Sanders said the audience should come ready
to have fun and engage with the musicians.
“I chose this production to strengthen our instrumentalists’ ability to be sensitive
to texts and words around them,” Sanders said. “We tend to listen to the musical qualities
but not always understand the story; singers are wonderful storytellers.”
The WCJO includes:
- Grace Anderson – baritone sax
- Latavia Brown – bass, vibes, vocals
- Jaylin Harrell – trombone
- Ethan Hash – trumpet
- Dakota Kreh – drums
- Miguel Montes – clarinet and baritone saxophone
