WC Foundation rebrands annual golf tournament as The Coyote Cup
The Weatherford College Foundation is launching a new era of its annual golf fundraiser
on Oct. 1 with the debut of The Coyote Cup, presented by Impact Mechanical, at Canyon
West Golf Course.
In its 26th year, major changes to the event include both morning and afternoon flights for the first time. Up to 30 teams are allowed in each flight starting at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
In addition to supporting student scholarships through the Weatherford College Foundation, proceeds from the tournament will also benefit The Den, WC athletics' Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) collective. The partnership aims to create additional opportunities for student-athletes while continuing the foundation's long-standing mission of helping students access higher education.
Participants will see more WC athletes on the greens this year as well. While members of the college's golf teams have participated in previous tournaments, organizers are planning a broader presence from student-athletes and coaches across multiple sports, giving sponsors and participants more opportunities to interact directly with the students their support benefits.
Tournament organizers said the expanded format was developed in response to growing interest from community partners and supporters. By offering two flights, the event can welcome significantly more participants while maintaining an enjoyable pace of play.
“By bringing together community supporters, student-athletes and college leadership, we're creating an experience that directly impacts student success both academically and athletically,” said event organizer Susan Sodek.
The four-person scramble includes green fees, cart, meals and a golf gift for participants. Awards will be presented to each flight's first-, second- and third-place teams, as well as winners of longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests.
Registration is $125 per golfer or $500 per foursome. Sponsorship levels begin at $750.
Online registration is available here. Sponsorships are also available. For more information, contact Susan Sodek at ssodek@wc.edu, 817-598-8924, or Jeff Lightfoot, athletic director, at jlightfoot@wc.edu, 817-598-6277.

Established in 1978, the WC Foundation provides scholarships for Weatherford College students and other support for WC.
