WC breaks enrollment record again
For the seventh consecutive long semester in a row, enrollment at Weatherford College
set a new record.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, 7,539 students were registered compared to 7,245 students last year, representing a 4.06% increase.
The enrollment increase comes as colleges and universities across the country continue to grapple with the effects of the long-anticipated "enrollment cliff," a nationwide decline in the number of traditional college-age students tied to lower birth rates following the 2008 recession. While many institutions have experienced enrollment declines or budget pressures in recent years, WC has continued to grow.
The Fall 2026 Count Day figure marks another enrollment milestone for the college and continues a multiyear upward trend. College officials attribute the growth to expanded academic and workforce training programs, increased access to bachelor's degree opportunities, strong dual-credit partnerships and continued investment in student support services.
