WC board approves 2026-27 budget, tax rate
The Weatherford College Board of Trustees approved a $117 million budget and a property tax rate of 11.4716 cents for the 2026-27 fiscal year at a special meeting Thursday.
The meeting included a public hearing on the proposed tax rate in which no one spoke.
While this is an increase over last year’s rate of 10.6087 cents per $100 valuation, WC's rate is 28.5% below the state average and ranks as the 19th lowest among the state's 50 community college districts.
The tax rate will generate approximately $29.5 million in revenue for the college’s budget. Additional funding for the college comes from state appropriations as well as student tuition and fees.
Tuition and fees at all state colleges and universities are currently frozen per a mandate from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In other business, the board:
- Approved a TIPS cooperative contract proposal from Master’s Transportation for a 2026 Ford Transit shuttle bus for the athletic department.
- Approved a buy-board contract proposal from BSN Sports for a Daktronics scoreboard for the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center.
- Approved a renewal proposal for insurance coverage, loss control and risk management services.
