The Power of Optimism
The legendary football coach Vince Lombardi stated, “Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later, the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.” Our beliefs shape our actions and their associated outcomes. Willie Nelson said, “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results." Optimism and positivity shape our lives.
Just as a healthy outlook benefits individuals, it also positively impacts organizations. Organizational culture drives the behaviors of employees and shapes the associated organizational outcomes. The intrinsic motivation associated with being part of something larger than yourself can become a bountiful source of resilient energy.
Weatherford College changes lives! For 156 years, this noble institution has been helping students realize the American Dream. That honorable mission of improving the human condition has produced generations of entrepreneurs, successful business owners, artists, athletes, and academicians. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the unwavering dedication of our incredible employees, Weatherford College now changes more lives than ever before…and the best is yet to come!
The core values of faith, hope, and love, and the associated culture of caring, result in an organizational culture that propels student success. When students know that they are genuinely cared for, they strive to reach the high expectations that are the cultural norm. They see others succeeding and believe that they too can make a better life for themselves and their families. When employees know that they are highly valued and appreciated, they blossom into the very best version of themselves. They become empowered to motivate, inspire, and educate like never before.
Attitude is everything! The power of optimism changes students, employees, and even organizations in very positive ways. As Henry Ford stated, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” Let’s continue working together to make our college and our community an even greater place. I’m positively optimistic that we can do just that!
