Thankfulness never gets old
After seven years of writing monthly op-eds, one becomes concerned about unintentional self-plagiarism, especially around seasonal holidays. However, some things are worthy of repetition. Thankfulness is one such topic.
I am incredibly thankful to have been born with a sound mind and a healthy body in the greatest country the world has ever known, The United States of America! I honor the many American heroes who paid the ultimate price so that others would have the freedom to pursue the American Dream.
As I look back upon my life, I am astonished that such an ordinary person with no significant talents and abilities could realize the American Dream. I was the least likely to succeed, and yet this great nation provided me with a pathway to better myself and to give back to our amazing society.
That pathway to realizing the American Dream began for me at Weatherford College. I had been told as a high school student that I was not college material. While a part of me believed that negativity, a larger part of me desperately hungered to try and make a better life for myself.
Weatherford College forever changed my life for the better. I love this place, and I love these people!
This holiday season as I reflect on the profoundly staggering impact of Weatherford College had on my life, and on the lives of so many others, I find myself exceeding thankful!
