Sanders inducted into Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame
In a New York City ceremony on Oct. 20, Weatherford College’s Fredrick Sanders was inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame.
Sanders, WC’s director of jazz studies, is a renowned performer and educator and a recognized leader in using Steinway’s Spirio high-definition player piano technology in educational settings.
He joins WC’s Dr. Hyeyoung Song in the Hall of Fame. Song was inducted previously, making Weatherford College one of the few institutions with multiple faculty members honored by Steinway.
“We are incredibly proud of Fredrick Sanders’ accomplishments,” said WC President Tod Allen Farmer. “It is amazing for Weatherford College to have one Steinway & Sons inductee, much less two!”
The Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame, established to celebrate outstanding educators in the U.S. and Canada, highlights instructors who foster musical excellence and inspire the next generation of pianists. The names of Sanders and other inductees are on permanent display at the Steinway factory in New York along with other forms of recognition.
“This award affirms what we already know: that Fredrick Sanders is an exceptionally dedicated and immensely talented musician and educator,” said Rebecca James, WC department chair for fine and performing arts. “Now, all who visit the Steinway factory in New York will know too!”
