Farmer announces ambitious WC expansion plans during annual address

September 21, 2024

Weatherford College President Tod Allen Farmer reiterated this mantra throughout his annual address at the 2024 Presidential Luncheon held Sept. 17. And he’s taking his own advice.

“We are now embarking on the largest building campaign in Weatherford College history,” Farmer announced. “We will soon issue $100 million in tuition revenue bonds that will transform our beautiful campus. Several of our original facilities will be replaced by a massive, five-story student union and cafeteria.”

The newest facility at WC will provide a one-stop shop for students for advising, registration, testing center, tutoring center, dinning rooms, bookstore and more.

“This new facility will not only transform our campus,” Farmer said. “It will help us to serve students more effectively than ever before. We are going to dream big and act now.”

These expansion plans come on the heels of record enrollment, the addition of five bachelor’s degrees and numerous other certificate and associate degree programs at WC.

And for her dedication to students and unwavering love of WC, executive assistant Debbie Alexander was presented with a Presidential Core Value coin.

Farmer also thanked the faculty, staff, donors, and community members for their support and dedication to student success. He concluded by challenging students to dream big and act now, encouraging them to seize the opportunities available at Weatherford College to achieve their goals.

“Our faculty and staff care about you and your success,” he said. “Our generous donors care about you and your success. Our community cares about you and your success. You are our highest priority. You are surrounded by people who care about you and want you to succeed. Weatherford College is your college. This is your opportunity to work hard and turn your dreams into reality.”
