Primary Care Pathway

TCOM-Rural Osteopathic Medical Education (ROME) Pathway: Weatherford College

Weatherford College is honored to partner with the University of North Texas Health Science Center Fast Track to Medical School, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program. Weatherford College students may seek a traditional pre-med pathway which offers coursework and advising to transition to a four-year institution prior to applying to medical school or this Primary Care Pathway Program (PCPP), which is an accelerated pathway allowing students to become a physician in seven fast-paced years.

For each pathway, the first two years are completed at Weatherford College taking academically rigorous pre-PCPP courses. Students may be invited to apply for Early Acceptance Notification from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM), with the MCAT requirement waived.

Weatherford College, Pre-Med Student Eligibility:

  • U. S. citizen with a Texas residence admitted to Weatherford College
  • Competitive SAT and ACT score as determined by the PCPP Advisory Committee
  • First time entering college freshman (dual credit accepted)

PCPP Student Minimum Requirements at Weatherford College:

  • Meet TSI requirements for Math and Science courses
  • Complete the required curriculum with a grade of “B” or better (including dual credit)
  • Complete the SAT and ACT by March of the first year at Weatherford College
  • 3.75 overall GPA; 3.75 GPA in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics and Math courses
  • Participate in the Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) process and completion of co-curricular experiences during the first two years at WC
  • Submit a completed application to the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service, TMDSAS during year 2 at WC
  • Submit a completed secondary admissions application to UNTHSC-TCOM during year 2
  • During year 2, apply for transfer admission to UNT (Denton)
  • All deadlines must be met
