The public is invited to a special reception Monday, Nov. 23, for the artists exhibiting in the Weatherford College Student Art Exhibition. The free event will be held in Texas Hall of the Majorie Black Alkek Fine Arts Center, 225 College Park, 6-7 p.m., among the students' artistic work already on display.

Works feature a variety of media including ebony, charcoal, scratchboard, acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil and mixed media, and many pieces are for sale.

The exhibition officially opened Nov. 12 and will continue through Nov. 25, but the reception on the 23rd will highlight the event with students having the opportunity to visit with the public.
Weatherford College art students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, cultures and hometowns, said Myrlan Coleman, art program director.

"This is an exceptional group of students who work to produce excellent work.  They seem to love the opportunity to exhibit their talents and skills," said Coleman. "Good food and an opportunity to view the works of budding artists will make this a delightful opportunity."

The reception and the exhibit are free, and the public is invited and encouraged to attend, Coleman said. For more information, contact Coleman at 817-598-6232.
